Optimize Settings for EVM Measurements

For a perfect EVM measurement you need to optimize the SPECTRAN V6 SNR avoiding a digitizer overload.

The optimization process simply requires measuring the signal peak level and then setting up the input stage accordingly. However, please be aware that the measured period may not represent the complete power characteristics of the input signal.

You can manually tweak the SPECTRAN V6 settings, such as IF gain and RF attenuators, to achieve the best measurement results by up to 73dB for a perfect SNR:

  • Adjusting the Ref-Level (This represents the attenuator after the pre-selector filter stages and amplifier(s). Adjustable within 30dB)
  • Adding the Amplifier (Before the pre-selector stages. Fixed 17dB gain)
  • Adding the Preamplifier (Before the pre-selector stages and Amplifier. Fixed 20dB gain)
