Supporting Signal Time Data and Signal Spectral Data would require VITA 49.2 I think.

There are some interesting open source projects like REDHAWK that could make use of VITA 49, and might be more efficient than HTTP. It would open up the use of the SPECTRAN for satcom digital IF, either IEEE-ISTO Std 4900 (DiFi, free to download) or TIA-5041 (FAST, licenced standard).
