What is the the SPECTRAN V6 attenuator range?

The overall attenuator range for the Rx and Tx is 50dB, with Preamplifier option 70dB.

Is there an explanation of how to use the built in attenuation function ? I have seen there is are options in the RF calibration however my undemanding is this is for compensating for external attenuation ans not the internal one

I am also trying to understand the difference between Amp and Pre Amp

The Reference Level sets the attenuator fully automatic. Please check out the circuit diagram for the RF signal path.
