How to calibrate my Spectran

Hi,

We have a Spectran V6 Plus 250 XA - 6. We followed the post (Calibration Block – Aaronia SPECTRAN V6 Support Forum) instruction to calibrate.

But after calibration, when we give 0 dB from a Keysight signal generator, we are getting 13 dBm at 400 MHz and 2500 MHz. At 5500 MHz we are getting 0 dbm.

We have attached the calibrated file and the mission setup.

Please advise where are we going wrong ?

I dont quite understand what you are doing but you can get a simple high precission calibration for your unit as following (example):

Set the generator to sweep at -20dBm.

At the V6 switch all amplifiers off. Set reflevel to 0dBm.

Capture the sweep with a new fresh max hold trace. As soon as the trace is ready without gaps save it as calibration file. Done.

Note that the calibration is now only valid for this setup and power level.

We tried the same process, but the output was not calibrated.

A sweep input from a stable signal generator with -20dBm was given.

Output at 1 GHz when input of 0 dBm was set.

Looks like your reference trace (max hold) was not "filled" gaples. You need to sweep all! frequency points to generate a perfect max hold trace which for sure will take a long time (several minutes up to an hour) with that generator. Thats why you should better usa a SPECTRAN V6 with Tx which does it in a fraction of a second.

We also tried with dwell time of 1 sec with 32 averaging points.

This is the response curve at -50 dBm input

Still the output is not correct.

Can you share some images/videos of how the calibrated file will look like after calibration and calibration process.

Any other suggestions ?

It should look like shown in https://v6-forum.aaronia.de/forum/topic/impedance-mismatch-compensation-super-accurate-level-calibration/

But if the generator cant offer a gapless sweep you are lost.
