Input to the Ref clock port and synchronization status

I have the following queries regarding the ref clock,

1. Is there any option to manually enable/disable the ref clock for synchronization or to see if the synchronization is successful.
2. In a different thread (https://v6-forum.aaronia.de/forum/topic/can-the-10mhz-refclock-be-used-for-external-clock-source/) it was mentioned that the ref clock should get a rectangular signal. But for my setup i would need a ref clock from a vector signal generator which is a sine wave. would the clock synchronization still work if the input to ref clock is a sine wave.
