NOW AVAILABLE: SPECTRAN V6 ECO (44MHz RTBW | 9kHz to 8GHz)

PreviousPage 4 of 11Next

We restructured the devices and will offer new devices under new names.

The ECO will be one of it and now shows up within our online shop so we hope to ship first batches within the next 2-3 months.

More to come!

Hello, thank you for the insight. The ECO looks very good.

Will you offer the newer 9 Khz circuitry in 2RX + 1TX option? Which model would this be?

Yes that would be an updated regular SPECTRAN V6 ("B" version, beginning of 2024),

Thank you.

Can I combine 2 ECO units (each with 1 RX + 1 TX) to have a 2RX + 2TX system? Can I do that without any additional hardware?

The 3THz/sec fast scanning option is decided by hardware or can be upgraded by software key?

Yes that is possible since we can phase sync multiple units. You just need a special cable from our side.

This is a hardware option (export restricted multi LO) and quite expensive. Default is around 500GHz/s.

Thank you, that's great. 🙂

Questions:
1. Out of curiosity, with this cable syncing solution, could I sync more than just 2 ECO units, or it is limited to max two?
2. With the cable sync solution, can I combine the Rx bandwidth of the 2 ECO units this way into 88 Mhz RTBW (2 x 44 Mhz), if needed?
3. Or, if I decide to purchase 2 different ECO units (let's say the 1Rx+1Tx and 2Rx versions), could I combine these into 3x44 Mhz RTBW, if needed?

Just looking at the best combination for a lab research project. Thank you.

Yes all this is possible but if you need higher bandwidth it would be simpler to use the SPETRAN V6 PLUS offering up to 245MHz within a single unit.

Yes, that's true. However, this being a research project, I'm not sure what I will run into or I will need the units for. So in the initial research phase the two combined ECO units can give me the maximum flexibility, best of both words: if needed multiple RX and/or TX ports, or if needed higher combined Rx bandwidth.

Question: in the case of 2 ECO units, will these be powered from 2 individual USB 3.1 ports of a PC or laptop (one USB port for each ECO unit), or can they somehow be powered from the same USB port via a splitter?

You need a USB 3.2 PD port for each unit.

Might be possible to use some USB 4.0 splitter in future with multiple PD but so far I dont know of any supporting such a feature.

Thank you. Is this computer configuration suitable to drive 1 or eventually 2 ECO units?

  • Thinkpad X1 Extreme, Gen 1 laptop
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8850H CPU @ 2.60GHz, 6 cores, 12 threads
  • both Intel integrated and nVidia GTX 1050 discrete graphic cards
  • 64 Gb RAM
  • 2 x 2TB SSD. 3360 Mb/s read, 3000 Mb/s write speed
  • 2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 (one always on)
  • 2x USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 / Thunderbolt 3 ports with PD

Thank you.
