"IsoLOG 3D Mobile" Antenna - direction finding and use cases?

A question ive always had about the IsoLOG 3D Mobile:

1- can this product/antenna be used for direction finding in any way? (even if that is not directly supported by software)-  i do realize the "IsoLOG 3D DF" (direction finding) is a different product (and is made for direction finding)

2- what is the advantage to the 3D (axis rotation) feature the mobile provides over a standard X or Y polarized antenna?

I have one (a mobile 9080) , and love it for its amps and ability to switch the antennas polarity-   but i have not made much use of the rotation functions, due to lack of use-case (and knowledge) on my end.

thanks

This antenna is made for 3D peak measurement not for DF.

It is a quasi isotropic antenna since the switches allow you to circle all antennas over and over again at a very high speed.

Depending on the selected antenna switch time and the sweep or capture time of the connected analyzer different traces will offer the wanted results:

Setting the  Max Hold will give you the highest reading from all 3 axis (x,y,z).

Using a Max Fall or a short AVG instead will allow you to make steady peak measurements e.g. for drive tests.
